Senior/Lead Python Engineer for Magnetar

At Satellite, we are looking for a driven, smart and ambitious Senior/Lead Python Engineer to join our team to work with one of the major US investment companies!

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and implementation of complex product features and client solutions;
• Working directly with clients to understand business requirements, propose technical solutions, and drive delivery;
• Developing and maintaining scalable back-end systems using Python;
• Making architectural decisions and ensuring high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability;
• Identifying bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities for process and system improvements;
• Designing and optimizing data processing workflows, including complex SQL-based data manipulation and orchestration;
• Integrating external data sources, APIs, and best-in-class third-party technologies;
• Driving engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and observability;
• Mentoring team members and contributing to the overall technical growth of the team;
• Taking ownership of projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from discovery and design to production release and support.

You’ll Be A Great Fit If You Have:

• University degree (ideally in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field);
• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering with Python as a primary language;
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices;
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems;
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex data pipelines and data-intensive applications;
• Experience with Pandas and data processing frameworks;
• Solid experience with automated testing and a quality-first engineering mindset;
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines;
• Ability to independently drive technical initiatives and make sound engineering decisions with minimal supervision;
• Strong ownership mentality and accountability for business outcomes, not just code delivery;
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients and stakeholders;
• Passion for continuous learning, professional growth, and improving both products and engineering processes;
• Strong verbal and written English (B2–C1) – MUST.
